Reclaimed Timber Staircase by Mork-Ulnes
How about a gorgeous salvaged timber staircase? Look at this wonderful green design. It’s from the San Francisco home of the famous Norwegian designer Casper Mork-Ulnes. The reason why he is such a talented individual is probably due to the fact that he’s taken inspiration from different cultures. Born in Norway, raised in Italy and the UK, he is now living and working in the USA.
To achieve this rugged, modern look to the staircase, salvaged timber was simply glued together to form a sort of a butcher-block treads. Pegs and nails are left exposed. The outer railing is constructed from pieces of shower-door glass by using industrial hardware. It looks really cool. I’m not so sure about the left railing – I was probably expecting to see something more unusual. Still the main appeal is in the contents – an old block of wood might look useless at the first glance but after a little bit of tinkering about – the result is impressive.
